Private Tuition (Online Lessons)
The Benefits of 1:1 Online Tutoring
At Shropshire Tutor, we believe that one-on-one tutoring is the most effective way for students to achieve their academic goals.
By providing personalised attention and tailoring the learning experience to each student’s unique needs and learning style, we help them unlock their full potential.
Coupled with the convenience of virtual lessons, students can access high-quality tutoring from the comfort of their own homes.
Personalised Attention
In a traditional classroom setting, teachers often have to divide their time and attention among a large number of students.
This can make it challenging for them to provide the individualised support that each student requires.
With 1:1 virtual tutoring, your child will have the undivided attention of their tutor, who can focus solely on their learning needs and progress.
Flexible Scheduling
Virtual tutoring sessions can be scheduled at times that are convenient for you and your child, allowing you to fit their learning around your family’s busy schedule.
Whether it’s before school, after school, or on weekends, we’ll work with you to find the best times that suit your needs.
Comfortable Learning Environment
Learning from home can be a more comfortable and less intimidating experience for many students.
They can participate in their lessons in a familiar and relaxed setting, which can help them feel more confident and engaged in the learning process.
Specialised Expertise
At Shropshire Tutor, we carefully select our tutors based on their subject-matter expertise and their ability to effectively communicate complex concepts.
Whether your child needs help with math, English, science, or any other subject, we have the right tutor to support their learning.
Continuous Progress Monitoring
Our virtual tutoring sessions are designed to be interactive and engaging, with regular assessments to track your child’s progress.
This allows us to continuously adjust the lesson plan and teaching approach to ensure that they are making steady improvements and achieving their learning goals.

11 Plus
The 11+ exam is a competitive, academically selective exam taken by 10-year-old children in Year 6 to gain entry into grammar schools in England. The exam is typically held in September each year for entry into Year 7 the following September.
The structure and content of the 11+ exam varies between different areas of the country. The two main exam boards are GL Assessment and CEM (Centre for Evaluation and Monitoring at Durham University)
GL Assessment exams cover English, maths, verbal reasoning and non-verbal reasoning. CEM exams focus on verbal reasoning, non-verbal reasoning and numerical reasoning
The best time to start preparing for the 11+ depends on the child’s current attainment levels. Many families begin preparing in Year 4 or Year 5 with regular weekly tuition to build skills and confidence. As the exam approaches, the focus shifts to practicing exam papers and developing technique
Our qualified and experienced 11+ tutors can provide high-quality one-on-one tuition tailored to your child’s needs. We start with an assessment, then focus on strengthening English and maths foundations before working on exam technique and confidence
Regular tuition not only prepares children for the 11+ but also brings broader benefits to their general schoolwork and confidence
