Success continues for our 11 Plus sessions
The classes are taught in small groups and we focus on non-verbal reasoning, verbal reasoning, English and Maths.
We use material from CEM as this is what is advised by both schools and our sessions are designed for CEM test style preparation.
As well as preparation sessions, we also run mock exam sessions nearer the time of the test, so the children are fully prepared to tackle the test conditions.
Our classes are for year 5 children, who want to sit the entrance exam when they are in year 6.
Have you got a child in Year 5?Year 5 11+ classes 2022

Term two January to April. Weekly Saturdays 1.00 – 3.00pm FULLY BOOKED
Alternate Sundays 9.30 – 11.30 limited spaces available.

Because the lessons are on line, we have to request parents do not attend the sessions due to issues of safeguarding. We will however e mail all parents at the end of each session with homework and individual feedback if necessary. We do ask that parents support their childs learning , including marking the homework and helping children to identify areas of challenge which we can consolidate in the lesson. We have to assume a level of competence in the subjects, this will include time table and division knowlege upto 12 x 12. A wide range of reading achieved and an appreciation that objectives taught to enable children to confidentally sit the exam, will include elements of year 5, 6 and 7 curriculum, as well as Non Verbal Reasoning which is not taught in schools. Our sessions focus on strategies and concepts that will enable the children to work mentally at speed within the time constraints that they will meet in the test.
Year 5 11 + mocksEntrance for 11+ tests 2022/23
We are running year 5 11+ mock tests at HLC secondary School in April and May. July, August and September dates to be confirmed.
Please note the mock tests include one test paper timed and completed in test conditions. This is because we spend time marking, correcting and discussing the paper with a direct teach based on the outcome of the test.
We have found that this is more valuable than initiating two tests following parent and child feedback over the last five years.
Your child’s mark and areas for development will be written on their test paper. Information regarding materials needed will be provided nearer the time.
Saturday 16th April 1.00 – 4.00 pm
Saturday 23rd April 1.00 – 4.00pm
