Terms & Conditions of Services

1. About Us

These Terms & Conditions (“Terms”) govern your use of the Shropshire Tutor website (the “Website”) and the services made available through it (the “Services”). By accessing or using the Website or Services, you agree to be bound by these Terms.

In accordance with UK website legal requirements, including the Companies Act 2006 and Electronic Commerce (EC Directive) Regulations 2002, our company information is displayed above.

You must ensure that the email address and other contact information you provide are accurate and kept up to date. Parents may update their details via the Parent Portal.

2. Interpretation

  • “Tutor” means an individual engaged to provide tuition services.
  • “Tutee” means the student receiving tuition (which may be a child), and where applicable the parent or guardian acting on their behalf.
  • “Tuition Arrangement” means a private arrangement made between a Tutor and a Tutee for the provision of tuition services.
  • Words in the singular include the plural and vice versa; words referring to a gender include all genders.
  • References to “including” shall mean “including without limitation”.
These Terms prevail over any other terms unless expressly agreed by us in writing.

3. Eligibility and User Obligations

You confirm that you are 18 years or older.

Users under 18 must have a parent or guardian register and interact with us on their behalf.

For safeguarding purposes:

  • A tutee under 18 must not be left alone with a Tutor during tuition sessions.
  • A responsible adult must remain present for the full duration of each session, whether online or in person.

4. Our Services

The Website and our Services are intended solely for use by individuals and families seeking educational support. Unless explicitly authorised by us in writing, organisations, agencies, companies or schools must not use the Website to source or provide tuition services.

Organisational enquiries should be directed to us via the contact details on the Website.

5. Suitability of Tuition Environment

We expect all Tutors to provide a safe and appropriate learning environment. However, we cannot be held liable where a Tutor’s premises or online environment does not meet your personal expectations.

6. User Content

When using the Website, you may submit materials (“User Content”). By providing User Content, you:

  • Grant us a non exclusive, worldwide, royalty free, perpetual licence to use, reproduce, display, distribute, and adapt such content for the purpose of providing the Website and Services.
  • Confirm you own the rights to the User Content and it does not infringe any third party rights.
  • Waive any moral rights you may have in the User Content.
  • Accept liability for any loss or damage arising from unlawful or infringing content you submit.
We may refuse, remove, or editorially moderate any User Content that:
  • breaches these Terms;
  • is unlawful; or
  • is deemed inappropriate at our discretion.

7. Acceptable Use

You agree NOT to:

  • use the Website for unlawful purposes;
  • submit defamatory, obscene, discriminatory, or abusive content;

As a consumer, your statutory rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 remain unaffected.

Subject to the above, we shall not be liable for:
  • indirect or consequential losses (including loss of income, opportunity or data);
  • any actions or behaviours of Tutors or Tutees (as Tuition Arrangements are private agreements);
  • the accuracy or reliability of User Content;
  • damage caused by viruses or malware from your use of the Website;
  • interruptions or unavailability of the Website.
Our total liability to you for any claim arising under these Terms is limited to £175.

10. Tuition Arrangements

All tuition provided through Shropshire Tutor is delivered by tutors who are directly employed by Teach Me Group Limited. When you book tuition with us, you are entering into an agreement solely with our company, and not with individual tutors.

We are responsible for managing the delivery of tuition, allocating tutors, overseeing service standards, and ensuring safeguarding requirements are met. While we take all reasonable care to provide high‑quality tuition, we do not guarantee specific academic outcomes or examination results.

You are responsible for ensuring that the learning environment within your home or chosen location is safe, appropriate, and conducive to learning.

Where tuition takes place online, you must ensure that suitable technology, connectivity, and supervision arrangements are in place.

11. Data Protection & Privac

We comply with the UK GDPR and Data Protection Act 2018 for all personal data processing.

Our ICO registration number is ZA148729.

12. Account Suspension or Withdrawal

We may suspend or permanently withdraw your access to the Website or Services at our discretion.

Where Services have been paid for in advance, we will either honour those services or provide an appropriate refund.

13. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms for legal, regulatory or operational reasons. Updates will be published on the Website.

Where changes materially affect your rights, we may also notify you by email.

If you do not agree to any update, you may terminate your use of the Services and request a refund for any prepaid Services not yet delivered.

We do not endorse, control, or accept responsibility for third party content, privacy practices or services.

Your dealings with third parties are entirely at your own risk.

15. Miscellaneous

  • UK law applies, and any legal disputes must be brought before the courts of England & Wales.
